Atomized Injection Test of Emulsified Nanoscale Iron and Oil
Recently, ARS completed injection testing of a substance consisting of vegetable oil and nano-scale iron. The goal of the test was to assess whether our gas-based injection method could atomize the viscous oil. The answer is yes! To do this, we setup an injection test area in our warehouse for the evaluation of the degree of atomization by the use of our unique injection process. (A portion of the testing was video-taped. Visit http://www.arstechnologies.com/video/atomize.avi to see the injection event.) The low-kinetic energy fluid being pumped by a conventional hydraulic mean was transformed to a high energy aerosol that distributed the material with much higher uniformity and velocity by the use of our multi-phase injection technique. Nitrogen gas was used to atomize the emulsion in achieving the effect. Further testing will be performed to optimize the injection method to ensure the emulsified iron stays within the oil matrix. With these test results, ARS is confident it can readily atomize other high viscosity fluids such as molasses, HRC and lactade oils/substrates.
