ARS obtains Exclusive License for Pneumatic Fracturing Patent
ARS Technologies Incorporated (ARS) is pleased to announce that it has finalized a five-year exclusive agreement with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to manufacture, market and sell 5 environmental treatment processes owned by the university. The five process patents (United States Patent No’s 5,032,042, 5,560,737, 5,908.267, 5,984,578 and 6,012,517) cover a wide range of environmental treatment methods including Pneumatic Fracturing of soils/rock, atomized liquid injection of biological substrates, methods for injecting dry materials/chemicals into the subsurface for environmental and land development purposes, and the use of sonic energy to treat contaminated soils and groundwater.
The Patent (No. 5,032,042) covering Pneumatic Fracturing was commercialized by ARS in 1992 when it was successfully demonstrated under the USEPA Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) program. Since then, ARS has applied the technology globally at more than 135 private and federal sites.
As part of the agreement, ARS will not only market and implement the technologies but issue sub licenses to third party firms. Under a Sub license agreement, ARS will train and support its sub licensees who will offer the technologies. ARS' goal in the next year is to sub license several firms in different geographical regions of the country.
