New Compact Fracture Module built to travel the world
ARS Technologies recently introduced its next generation Pneumatic Fracturing module. Unlike the original 20-foot trailer-housed unit, this newer 4' x 7' version can be transported anywhere in the world to access a variety of site locations quickly and easily. The new features of this module include:
  • The self-contained unit is built on forklift extensions for easy loading and transport and weighs under 500 lbs for easy transportation.
  • Equipped with a rugged multiple channel Campbell Scientific Datalogger, pressure measurements during fracturing can be measured and recorded for easy retrieval with a laptop computer. The Datalogger can also be used in conjunction with other measurement devices such as load-cells, tensiometers, flow cells, etc. The datalogger comes housed in a sturdy control box as part of the module.
  • The new fracture module comes equipped with a new dome-loaded regulator, capable of nearly twice the flow capacity of the older version.
  • The module is built with components rated for pressures exceeding 1000 psi to allow fracturing at a much wider variety of geological formations and depths.
  • The new module also comes equipped with a lightweight, steel shell that can be locked, protecting the equipment from the elements or damage while not in use.
  • Unlike the older version, which generated its own high pressure air using an air compressor with a bank of cylinders, the new module is fed using bulk nitrogen tube trailers that can be obtained almost anywhere in the world. This reduces the amount of equipment needed for mobilization to job sites, the amount of preparation time when at the site, and the amount of down time while at the site. Being an inert gas, nitrogen is beneficial in maintaining anaerobic conditions in the subsurface.
